MARTA DABROWSKA-TEVELEV

I am an architect and traveller.

I started my career in Poland, where after graduating from the Silesian University of Technology I had a unique opportunity to work on the Erich Mendelsohn building in Gliwice. It was a valuable learning experience which inspired me to look for more.

I moved to England in 2003 in search of the new and the unknown.

I spent fifteen years in London working as an architect and then project architect on multimillion commercial schemes, retail interiors and small high-end residential dwellings. Technically oriented, with a keen eye for detail, I enjoyed the design challenges and fast-paced architectural scene of the big city.

In 2017 I left behind the ‘Big Smokey’ and moved to rural Massachusetts, where I currently live and work.

I have four seasons now. Mountains around. Time for art and space to breathe. On occasions however, when morning mists hover over the hilly fields, I miss London.

My design style is simple, minimal, functional. My palette is limited to natural, monochromatic, or just black and white with an occasional splash of colour. I prefer materials that age with dignity, such as stone, concrete, wood, ceramics and natural fabrics. In my work I look for what is already there and how that can be improved, rather than thrown away and replaced by the new. I prefer  timeless elegance over the fashion craze.

My passion, beyond architecture and design, lies in art and travel. Art is my saving grace, inspiration, meditation. Escapes to remote mountain villages and vast open spaces are the essence of my existence.
